At the 34th annual Creative Arts and Entertainment Daytime Emmy Awards Shamu TV's "Saving a Species: The Great Penguin Rescue" won a National Daytime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Children/Youth/Family Special." Hosted by Elijah Wood and featuring SeaWorld aviculturists Lauren DuBois and Alex Waier, this half-hour special documents the extraordinary story of how humans across the globe flocked to the site of a disastrous oil spill off the coast of Cape Town, South Africa to take part in the largest seabird rescue in history.

The "Saving a Species" series is produced by the SeaWorld/Busch Gardens Education Department in conjunction with Spectrum Productions.

With a broadcast premiere in 2006, the program continues to air to this day on Discovery Kids Channel, a niche outlet of Discovery Communications currently in 54 million homes. 2007 Daytime Emmy Award
